This cliff-top cottage, high on the North Devon coastline, sleeps five guests and welcomes one dog. As well as spectacular views and stylish interiors, the cottage boasts a two-tier garden which is sure to set tails wagging. The first tier, accessible via steps down from the kitchen, is ideal for your four-pawed pal, with a lawn area to play on. You’ll also find a wet room, complete with a shower and a WC, so feet and paws can easily be washed free of sand before stepping back inside!
Through elegant decoration and little details in every room, the cottage has a distinctly nautical theme. Leave coats, boots and leads in the porch and enter the bright and comfortable lounge. As evening falls, this room is made warm and cosy with the wood burner: while your dog curls contentedly up on the rug, step through the French doors and straight onto the balcony where you can sip a drink of choice and gaze across to the horizon. The open-plan kitchen/diner is neat and homely, and a soak in the tub is that bit more special with its view of the sea. In the morning, take a stroll down the garden to the second tier, where a table and chairs are perfect for sunny days and dining alfresco.
You’ll never be short of walks at this property. Join the coastal path, which is signposted next to your parking space, and meander along to Hele Bay. Dogs are welcome all year round on the small cove’s beach and the pub there is also dog-friendly, so make a trip of it and stop off for a bite of lunch! Coastal and wildlife cruises leave from Ilfracombe Harbour (2 miles), and your hound can sit beside you on board, sniffing happily at the brisk sea air.
