This spacious, stylish cottage is a fantastic base for exploring North Devon and beyond. It’s in the little estuary village of Appledore, with its fishing harbour, sea views and eclectic choice of pubs and restaurants. There are wonderful walks from the doorstep around the estuary and neighbouring Northam Burrows Country Park. You’ll also find numerous sandy beaches very close by and the open countryside of Exmoor is well within striking distance.
Inside, you’ll find all the ingredients you need for a sophisticated family holiday. And, as the property sleeps seven humans and two dogs, it could even work for two small families sharing. There are two lounges, one with gorgeous estuary views and doors out to the balcony, and the other a cosy TV snug. The kitchen/diner is spacious and well-equipped, with all you’ll need for big family meals with the dogs at your feet. There are four bedrooms, one with an en-suite and two with fantastic river views. Outside, the balcony is spacious enough for everyone to enjoy an al fresco meal or drink watching the boats bobbing in the harbour. There is also a garden with a large lawn, storage space and direct access, meaning you can get the dogs clean and dry before you head inside.
Appledore is a fantastic place to explore, with lots of mooching potential on the harbourside and some fantastic pubs. The resort of Westward Ho! with its traditional seaside attractions and long sandy beach is 3 miles away. The village of Instow, with its sand dunes, is a short boat ride away across the estuary. You can join the South West Coast Path for endless long walks along cliff tops and through pretty villages. Exmoor, with its wild open countryside and cosy pubs, is around 20 miles away.
