This charming cottage has been decorated in keeping with its seaside location on the waterfront of Appledore, a small and traditional fishing village. Subtle nautical touches have been placed throughout whilst the large windows offer fantastic views out across to Instow (5 miles). The walled patio to the rear of the property is perfect for sipping your morning coffee whilst taking in the fresh sea air. Places to explore include the cobbled streets of Clovelly (13.5 miles) and the surfing beach at Westward Ho! (2.5 miles).
The unique layout of this property means that you enter it at street level, straight into the upper floor landing where you’ll find the three bedrooms and a shower room with WC. Head downstairs, watching your head on the low ceiling, to the open-plan lounge/diner. With its corner sofa facing both the Smart TV and the breathtaking views out to the estuary, this room is ideal for evenings snuggled up next to the gas fire, or mornings watching the boats gliding by. Get everyone together and dine alfresco in the patio area with its charcoal BBQ as you watch the sun set and let Fido roam free, taking care with the waist-high sea wall. The utility room makes for a great space to leave sandy boots and leads after a day exploring.
The market town of Bideford (3 miles) is well worth the visit for its selection of shops and eateries. The large park offers play equipment for children and an open space for a game or two of fetch. From here you can also catch the ferry across to Lundy Island for your chance to see puffins and explore its car-free setting. Or hire some bikes and cycle from Bideford to Instow along the Tarka Trail, back home to the pretty village of Appledore.
