At the gateway to Dartmoor National Park (2 miles), this handsome stone cottage welcomes 13 guests and two happy hounds. Surrounded by acres of farmland with ample parking, this idyllic location is set along an old cycle railway track, perfect for family days out on wheels, feet or paws. Gather with friends or family in the heart of the home, where the kitchen and dining area have a huge table and cosy wood burner. Cosy up in the two lounges, both have a TV with DVD. The utility area is great for rainy gear and muddy boot kick-offs, and there’s a shower room close by. Two staircases lead to the first floor where you’ll find six bedrooms (including two en-suites), plus a family bathroom. Outside, there’s an enclosed walled garden and a shallow stream at the request of your canines. Towards the front of the cottage, there’s also a large enclosed lawn and a games barn with table tennis, table football, and bike storage space.
Explore the woodland and riverside around the ruins of Okehampton Castle (2 miles), ideal for dog walks and picnics, with carpets of wildflowers in springtime. Pup pals will love the old railway route - The Granite Way - where they can spot wildlife, cyclists, fellow-walkers and landmarks, including Lydford Castle and Lydford Gorge (7 miles). And Meldon Viaduct rail station (1 mile) has a heritage steam train to and from Okehampton town in season (a 15-minute train journey).
