Enjoy dog day afternoons on the beach or walkies along the South West Coast Path with a stay at this attractive ground-floor apartment on the outskirts of Bude. It’s well-suited to a couple or small family and up to two of their four-pawed pals. You’ll all have the chance to burn off some energy at the property itself – the dogs on the lawn and you on the tennis court, both shared with the other holiday homes here.
The property is very light and airy to boost your mood as soon as you arrive, and the lounge is a lovely space to read or relax in front of the TV. On chilly evenings, snuggle up on the comfy sofas under a blanket, and in summer throw open the patio doors to bring the outside world in. You can even dine alfresco on the private patio and feed the dogs biscuits so they don’t feel left out. After a day at the beach, the shower room is handy for cleaning the sand off everyone. The pretty bedrooms are on the same floor, so you can be close to your pets to help them feel settled. When it comes to playtime, they’ll love scampering around with the kids on the large shared lawn, although it isn’t enclosed so you will need to keep an eye on them.
The apartment is in the hamlet of Maer, within a mile of some beautiful sandy beaches. Crooklets has some restrictions for dogs, but the rocky cove at Northcott Mouth is brilliant for games of fetch at any time of the year. The coastal path also offers a spectacular clifftop walk over Maer Down. Alternatively, enjoy days out to the cobbled fishing village of Clovelly (17 miles) and Tintagel (21 miles), famous for its brooding castle.
