This thoughtful property, set on the outskirts of the peaceful village of Sampford Peverell, is perfect for a romantic getaway in the company of your four-legged friends. Set over one floor, with added ramp access and space for three canine companions, it’s a great choice for less-mobile couples looking to treat their furry friends to some fresh Devon air. And with canal walks and trains leading to Exeter and Tiverton within walking distance, you and your pooches can explore this beautiful county with ease.

Inside, the spacious interior has been built with comfort in mind. Unwind in the cosy open-plan living area. It’s the perfect place to curl up with a good book with Fido at your feet. Or rustle up a home-cooked meal in the easy-to-use kitchen. The two wet rooms, both equipped with grab rails, are great for cleaning up mucky pups after a long day of adventure. Then you can sink into the delightful double bed while Mutley dozes off on the comfy wicker armchair. Outside, sun-loving Schnauzers will adore the pretty patio area. With wheelchair access and outdoor furniture, there’s nowhere better to enjoy a warm summer’s evening.

While here, take in a stroll along the canal from Sampford Peverell to Halberton and enjoy excellent views across to the Blackdown Hills. Pups will love spotting reed warblers along the way. Or for a dog-friendly day out, head to Tiverton (6 miles) and explore Bickleigh Mill’s selection of shops and restaurants. It’s a great base for walks across the Exe Estuary. Sampford Peverell itself boasts a shop and two dog-friendly pubs.

Everything was 100% and will definitely book again. Only 5 minutes off the motorway so great for access but really quiet village. The local pub is worth a visit as the food is excellent and the pizza van on a Monday was a nice treat.

Lovely accessible cottage very roomy with a great accessible wet room meant we could enjoy the break without worrying about practicalities of my husbands lack of mobility. Really clean with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. There is a slope from the bedroom to the wet room with no hand rail which may be a challenge for some.

The cottage was ideal for me and I would like to stay again. It didn't bother me and it's a very minor point but there were some cobwebs which might bother some people. I know how difficult it is to deal with them. It's a cottage with beams and high ceilings and as soon as you get rid of them they seem to be back.

The Acorns is in a quiet location, well placed for visits to both the North and South Devon coasts, and Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks. Rob and Kate the owners have thought of everything necessary for a comfortable stay, including TV in the lounge area and bedroom, reliable wifi, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer and a plentiful supplyRead more of towels. Many thanks Rob and Kate for ensuring everything was as it should be for our recent stay at The Acorns. We had an excellent break despite the not so good weather - not much anyone could have done about that! Will not hesitate to recommend The Acorns to others and may well see you again in the future. A lovely cottage/great location, just change those couple of things, then would be great. The owners are new at this, so will no doubt learn & change certain things as they go forward with their new venture etc. Will definitely stay again, but hopefully will be a better/softer mattress next time, as I ended up in more pain coz the mattress was too Read morehard, so I was unable to sleep so well.
