Spot wildlife, amble along riverside trails and take on the 7stanes mountain bike challenge in the Ae Forest (10.5 miles) - the rock sculptures and spectacular vantage points make it worthwhile. The pretty market town of Moffat (8 miles), is also in easy reach. Further afield, attractions include the literary home of Scotland’s finest bard Robert Burns (14 miles), and Drumlanrig Castle (24 miles) where pups on leads are welcome in the stableyard and outside the tearoom – the perfect treat time for all the family.
