Rustic style and contemporary comfort greet guests at this wonderful cottage in North Wales. Sleeping four over two bedrooms, plus one canine companion, it’s perfectly placed for families and couples who love rural life with idyllic farm scenes and breathtaking views reaching far across the valley. Younger guests will delight in meeting woolly lamb neighbours and curious hens here. It’s a pleasant country drive to shops, pubs and eateries (8 miles).

Step inside this characterful home to a cosy kitchen and dining area, well-equipped for family meals. After a long day’s walk, gather in the lounge for family time and if you can beat Fido to it, sink into the cosiest of sofas and armchairs to enjoy the warmth of the wood burner. There are games, a TV with DVD, plus music player for nights in. And the upstairs bedrooms have wonderful hill views. Please take care when entering some rooms as in this old worker’s cottage, the door frames are lower than normal. Outside, there’s a small enclosed patio area with seating.

Family adventures can be found in the zip-wired treetops of Betws-y-Coed (8 miles), where visitors can explore a variety of shops, eateries and cosy pubs. Visit ‘the town that roofed the world’, Blaenau Ffestiniog, where families can experience life as a Victorian miner on slate mine tours at Llechwedd Quarry (17 miles). Further afield, keen hikers can take a lofty trek to Wales’ highest peak, Mount Snowdon (23.5 miles), or, for an easier route with awe-inspiring views, hop aboard the height-defying mountain railway (23.5 miles). Head to the coast for four-legged rambles and family fun; dogs on leads are welcome at the majestic 13th century Harlech Castle (23.5 miles), and Portmeirion village and estuary (20 miles) is simply the stuff of fairytales.

  • 2 double bedrooms

Lovely character cottage not far from the fabulous Betwys Y Coed and foot of Snowdonia. Small and cosy. Be prepared to crouch through some of the doors if tall. Log fire was great. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay, the cottage is well equipped and clean. Our only worry was the area for the dog behind the gate which he jumped over immediately even though hes quite small (11kgs). I would therefore not count on using it safely for the dog. The area is lovely and very convenient.
