This spacious cottage with charming decor and a pretty patio is set in a lovely Somerset village close to the Devon border and just metres from a canine-friendly pub serving home-cooked food. All around is doggie heaven in the form of country rambles from your door. It’s a wonderful choice for a romantic escape (plus your two furry friends) at any time of the year.
In this reverse-level cottage, which adjoins the owner’s farmhouse, you’ll find the cosy double bedroom on the ground floor, along with a spacious wet room. Stairs from the bedroom take you to the lounge/diner, with its high, pitched ceiling and wall of shelving. It’s light, bright and a real home-from-home. Why not grab a book or a board game and switch off from work completely? The kitchen is a fabulous space that’s equipped for all kinds of cooking, quick and easy or more adventurous. A brilliant feature of this wonderful property is the dog-washing area, where you can rinse your mucky pups before bringing them inside. In the enclosed garden there’s a patio and lawn, with a dining table at which you can enjoy drinks and meals in the sunshine or under the stars.
The cottage is set in the picturesque village of West Camel, where there’s a great pub and a lovely bakery. If you fancy popping your pups on a lead and exploring a historic town, Castle Cary, Bruton and Sherborne are all within 12 miles, while the National Trust’s Stourhead is 18 miles – there are four great walks around the estate to try with your hounds. Further afield, for a day at the beach or a coastal town, the north and south coasts are both reachable in around 30 miles.
