Property code: LLH60

Situated in the popular Kings Yard area of Hawkshead village, this delightful terraced cottage is a home-from-home for couples or small families looking to holiday with their hound. Sleeping four people and two dogs across two bedrooms, it is conveniently located within walking distance of pubs, restaurants and shops. With the beautiful Lake Windermere, a short drive away, along with some super walks, there’s something to keep everyone entertained.

Stylish design with traditional touches creates a welcoming and homely base for your break. The open-plan living area is at the heart of things, with snuggly sofas for curling up on while the furry family members enjoy a snooze and a stretch of their paws in front of the coal-effect electric fire. The dining area and shaker-style kitchen are both bright and airy and equipped with all you might need for eating in. Stairs lead up to the master bedroom where you’ll wake up to lovely views across to Claife Heights. There is also a twin room which has an inviting and cosy feel. The enclosed patio area to the front of the property offers some safe outdoor space for the canines, while you all sit back with a coffee or something stronger.

Meander around Hawkshead’s pretty streets and cobbled yards before stopping off at the famous Beatrix Potter Gallery. Let the mutts take the lead on the numerous walks which surround the amazing Lake Windermere (3 miles) and Coniston Water (4.5 miles). Take to the water by hopping on one of the pleasure cruises that operate on the lakes - many of them let dogs travel for free. If trains are more your thing, then your four-legged companions are also welcome to travel on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (10.5 miles), a steam locomotive complete with 1950s carriages.

  • 2 bedrooms: a double and a twin (can be a king-size on request)

Cottage was the perfect size for our family ( two adults, infant 9 months and Labrador). Main bed very comfortable, lovely and cosy cottage. Short walk to the village. 10 min drive to surrounding lakes which was as ideal.

The cottage was very nice and our stay there was very relaxing. Its a shame that the surrounding area doesn't have any designated places for a dog to be off lead. The village was welcoming and offered great places to eat and drink. Even though we had to drive to everywhere the outstanding beauty was stunning.

Great location for a walking holiday with several walks from the doorstep. Local Coop for general groceries and a good Deli, The Honeypot, selling lots of lovely local products. Some good pubs serving food, best to book in advance for evening meals. The Sun Inn is a friendly place and the Chippy next door serves fish & chips direct to your pub tablRead moree. Hide

Great location and well equipped cottage. However if staying with a dog there is no where to let them out on their own you will need to take them out.

The cottage was warm, cosy, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The welcome pack of chocolates, tea bags, coffee and biscuits was a lovely touch. In a good location for all the shops, pubs etc in Hawkshead with the bonus of its own parking space. There were numerous walks from the door which was great for our dog and us. The only negative was tRead morehe very creaky floorboards upstairs but, that said, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Hide

Very well located cottage, which was clean and has good facilities. The only thing to let it down is the heating system as it could not be regulated.

Cosy cottage in a great location. Perfect for bing in the village but cross the road and you're on great walks. The cottage was bigger than we expected with parking outside the door and a small paved enclosed front yard which was great for the dog. We would stay here again.
