This charming 16th-century cottage is located in the heart of the popular village of Hawkshead, within walking distance of its many shops, pubs and restaurants. Sleeping up to five people along with their four-legged pal, it’s a perfect base from which to explore the nearby Lake Windermere and the many local walks and trails that are sure to get tails wagging.
This inviting home retains many period features, giving it real character, while still featuring all the contemporary touches you’d expect. The lounge/diner is decorated in warming colours to give it a homely feel, making it a welcome spot to put feet and paws up after a busy day of exploring. The wood burner adds to the cosiness of this space on chillier evenings. If you’re not eating at one of the many local pubs, rustle up something tasty in the stylish kitchen before retiring to the three pretty bedrooms, which are all decorated in a warm, elegant style. One is to be found on the first floor while a further two are up a second flight of stairs. Step outside and take a seat to the front of the cottage and enjoy your morning cuppa.
Pull on your walking boots and prepare for some muddy paws by following one of the many local trails that pass your front door. Both Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are within 5 miles of the property, offering many hiking routes and water sports. Take to the water on one of the pleasure boats that operate and also welcome canine companions on board. They can travel for free on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway too (10.5 miles), a steam locomotive complete with 1950s carriages.
