Enjoy unrivalled beauty in the remarkable Lake District, where you’ll find dog walks aplenty and an abundance of sticks to be fetched by your beloved hound. This welcoming cottage sleeps four guests and two of your canine companions, offering a cosy space to relax on both cold winter nights and balmy summer evenings.
Renovated from a 17th-century farmhouse, this pretty cottage maintains plenty of original charm and traditional country decor throughout. Bounding bowows can stop off in the porch on arrival, giving you a chance to dry off muddy paws and kick off your walking boots. If it’s been raining cats and dogs, be sure to make use of the laundry facilities in the utility room before retiring to the cosy lounge. There is a rug with Fido’s name on it in the living room, a cosy spot before a warming wood burner that’s perfect for two dozing doggies to occupy whilst you enjoy catching up on the TV. If blessed with better weather, then be sure to make use of the private garden, a spot to dine alfresco and catch some evening sun whilst your four-legged friends enjoy exploring the enclosed space.
Set tails wagging with a trip to the vast waters of Lake Windermere. England’s largest lake lies just 3 miles from your doorstep, approximately a 1-hour walk along a tree-lined country road. Enjoy strolling along the waterfront or, if your dog has four sea legs, a trip on a boat. In this area, you’ll find an abundance of towering fells to be hiked, including Cumbria’s highest peak of Scafell Pike (28 miles). Let Rover take the lead with this challenging walk, stopping off for a rewarding bite to eat and bowl of water at nearby Langdale (8 miles) before heading home.
