Further afield you have local attractions including the picturesque coastal village of Woolacombe (7 miles) which boast a 3-mile-long golden sand beach (some dog-friendly areas), pubs, restaurants and shops. Or check out the National Trust's Arlington Court (11 miles), where dogs are welcome in the grounds, gardens and carriage museum. Chambercombe Manor (2 miles) is a must-see as one of Britain’s most haunted houses and welcomes four-legged visitors on short leads in the gardens.
