Dogs are only permitted out of season (October to April) on the main part of Filey Bay, but head south 2 miles to Hunmanby or Reighton and the furry ones can run free all year round. Further afield, everyone – including the pup – will enjoy a scramble around the ruins of Scarborough Castle, 10 miles away, with fantastic panoramic views across the coastline. For a longer 6-mile circular walk, head to Broxa Forest, 17 miles away, and feel on top of the world as you gaze over the patchwork Yorkshire Moors
