Stretching over 48 miles, completely traffic-free and following in the tracks of Tarka the Otter, The Tarka Trail is a truly special place to walk or cycle along and is just one of many reasons you’re going to fall in love with this property. Set along a private lane on the edge of the Tarka Trail, with far-reaching countryside views towards the estuary from the private balcony, this is the perfect place for a couple and up to two of their best four-legged friends to come and enjoy this wonderful part of the country.
Enjoy an early morning cup of coffee on the patio with Fido at your feet, listening to the chatter of the birds from the small orchard at the end of the enclosed rear garden. Relax inside the homely and welcoming annexe, with a bright and spacious open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen space that’s flooded with natural light from the large windows and French doors. Sink into the freshly made king-sized bed and fall into a deep sleep, preparing yourself for a new adventure the next day.
You’ll find the Tarka Trail less than a mile downhill walk from the front door. The trail has been surfaced throughout, takes you alongside the estuary and through wooded valleys, and is a stunning place for you and your pup to enjoy each other’s company. The main town of North Devon, Barnstaple, is just 5-miles from the farmhouse and home to a fantastic selection of shops, eateries and watering holes, as well as a pannier market and a museum. A little further afield is Heddon Valley, 15-miles away. It’s a National Trust area within Exmoor National Park where you’ll find a deep, lush wooded valley that leads down to the sea – a wonderful place to walk and enjoy nature at its very best.
