Two dogs and their four human companions can escape the mad rush and find a new leash of life in this countryside cottage. Head out to explore the beautiful landscape of the Cotswolds on one of its many circular walks or stray no further than the cottage’s enclosed garden with the BBQ lit and a few tasty treats for Fido sizzling away.
Hard floors throughout the downstairs living space means you don’t have to worry about any stray paw prints after a damp day of walking. The lounge is spacious, with plenty of room for the cosiest beds and cushions where your pup can stretch out and put their paws up. Eat dinner gathered round the table in the kitchen/diner, not forgetting a bowl for your top dog. Upstairs the bedrooms are cheerful and quirky, with colourful soft furnishings and exposed beams. After a good night’s sleep, start your morning by opening the lounge’s French doors. Let your curious canine sniff around the garden while you enjoy a leisurely brunch on the patio.
A short drive from the cottage is the Cotswold Water Park (2.5 miles), where there are routes for you and your dog to follow around more than 150 lakes. There’s even a designated swimming area for your hound to dip their paws and practice their doggy paddle. They’ll find sticks galore along the seasonal trails at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum (13.5 miles), and kids will love finding the Gruffalo sculptures. Visit Cirencester, local market town and often referred to as the Capital of the Cotswolds, where you can roam the earthwork remains of a Roman amphitheatre, stop for lunch in one of the dog-friendly pubs, and finish a pleasant afternoon with a stroll through the sweeping grass slopes and tree-lined avenues of Cirencester Park.
