Property code: CC063

Sleeping five guests across two bedrooms, and welcoming one dog, this stylish cottage is ideal for a family holiday. In a rural setting just 4 miles from Oxford City Centre, with a beautiful circular walk straight from the doorstep along the Chilswell Valley that will have tails wagging, here you have the best of peaceful countryside and bustling city.

The inside of the house is light, bright, and colourful, with plenty of space for Fido’s best bed. At the heart of the cottage is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where the whole family can gather morning and night. Back from a walk, put any clothes and dog coats needing a refresh in the washing machine and then soak under the shower, while your hound rests their paws with a well-deserved lie down. Cook a family meal in the kitchen, and eat at the table, with a dog bowl by your feet so everyone is together. After playing a game or watching the TV, head to bed, whether that’s the king-size, the adult-size bunk bed (plus pull-out), or a cosy cushion. Outside there’s a large lawn, as well as a decked area, which includes a stream and a treehouse for younger guests.

Head into the city centre (4 miles) for a stroll along cobbled streets, past iconic buildings, and through Christ Church Meadows, then stop for a snack in one of the dog-friendly cafes or pubs.

When you want to have a look inside some of Oxford’s best-known attractions, there is a doggy day care centre only a mile up the road from the cottage. They can play while you visit the sights, such as the Ashmolean Museum and Oxford Botanic Garden. The Park at Blenheim Palace (10 miles) is a great adventure for curious canines: let them take the lead on one of two dog-friendly routes, around either the lake or the perimeter of the entire park.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 bunk plus a pull out bed if required
  • 1 shower room
  • Electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge with ice box and washing machine
  • Treehouse outside for kids
  • Electric and oil fired electric radiators included
  • Ample parking available
  • Wi-Fi available
  • Large unenclosed garden
  • 1 mile to all amenities
  • Please note that a stream borders the garden
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

I understand some of the comments on the state of the property. But it was a lovely stay for us and our loud and active kids. We don't need something high end, just something afforable to stay. It does need some TLC and for me some of the chairs were a bit unsafe, is something that can be easily fixed.

Really pleasant experience. Owner was extremely accommodating regarding our leaving and arrival times. Dry Sandford pit is definitely worth a visit and very close.

The floor in the bathroom is brooking and the bathroom, except the toilet itself is not clean. The sofas were used be dogs and very filty and smelly. And a lot of things were very shabby.

Cottage was in beautiful setting and was very peaceful. The grounds were great for wildlife and the children to play. Everything you would need was there. It was very comfortable and cosy. A few bits of maintenance needing done but on the whole a pleasant stay.

Oxford Batch is the perfect location really! The owners grounds are stunning. We saw deer, a variety of birds inc woodpeckers and kites, foxes and squirrels right outside the property. Unfortunately the images shown on the website must be very old as the entire property is very tired and unkept. Good location for visiting Oxford, Redbridge park and ride about 2 miles away, however, property is tired and neglected and, although set in a super garden, when sitting outside, the noise from the A34 is extremely audible and constant. You will have to decide yourself about value for money
