This superb barn conversion situated just 1.5 miles from Aberaeron is an ideal retreat for two couples – not forgetting the loyal hounds, of course. Sleeping four across two bedrooms and with plenty of space for up to two dogs to sleep, it won’t be long before you’re up and about wandering the coastline or strolling around the woods at the National Trust’s Llanerchaeron (1.5 miles), a beautiful Georgian manor house. Alternatively you may just prefer to laze around at the cottage, have a BBQ, enjoy the views and unwind in your own private hot tub whilst your pets relax in the courtyard.

The property, which is located on the owner’s smallholding, is cosy and comfortable. The open-plan living area is perfect for relaxing and entertaining, thanks to welcoming sofas and chairs placed for you to sink into, while the kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm. Take in the stunning views from the bottom of the garden which overlooks the river When it’s time for bed, head up to the peaceful bedrooms and get a perfect night’s sleep among soft, pretty decor.

You’re in a great position for exploring both coast and country. Explore the shingle Aberaeron South Beach (1 mile) and take the pups for a paddle, or bring them along for a ride through the Rheidol Valley on the Vale of Rheidol Railway (17 miles). For a chance to spot some dolphins or porpoise, take a 1 or 2-hour boat trip from New Quay Bay (8 miles) before heading back inland for a spot of lunch from one of the many pubs and cafes. And if you’re craving a bit of hustle and bustle, take a wander around ancient market town Aberystwyth (17 miles).

A lovely cottage, near to both Aberaeron and New Quay which were great to visit. Lots of shops, cafes, pubs as well as boat trips from New Quay. The hot tub was a great addition along with the fire basket. Although the cottage is near Aberaeron you need to get the car out either to drive and then park up and walk along the other side of the river oRead morer drive into the town itself. This meant for a designated driver if evening pub trips are your thing. Hide

This little cottage may be small but packs a big punch. Deceptively spacious on the inside. Two lovely bedrooms, especially the upstairs one with a great view. The kitchen is well equipped, and the little welcome pack was a lovely touch. We loved the big, comfy sofa. But our favourite was the hot tub! Large enough for the 4 of us to relax and watchRead more the stars. The location is brilliant. Although not far from the road, it was never busy or noisy in the evening. Great cafes & restaurants in town. Hide

A lovely setting with lots of birdsong, and trees for as far as you can see. Hot tub is very nice and is maintained every two days which made us feel good. Its quite close to the road but theres not much traffic and the trees block most of the sounds.
