Known for its beautiful harbour, which is home to Damien Hirst’s Verity, the bustling coastal town of Ilfracombe has some wonderful beaches including The Tunnels and Hele Bay, both of which are dog-friendly. The town offers plenty of great restaurants, pubs, independent shops and galleries. Dogs can accompany you on the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway (18 miles) and in the grounds of Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum (11 miles). You can also explore Exmoor, including the cliffs of Heddon Valley (11 miles) and Mortehoe (6.5 miles) with its history of wrecking and smuggling.
