Steeped in history, this charming stone cottage boasts an expansive enclosed garden in an idyllic countryside setting. This tastefully styled hideaway is the perfect retreat for couples or solo travellers and a couple of furry friends seeking muddy-pawed adventures in the heart of the Peak District. Embark on a feast for the senses with a scamper through the burbling rivers and grassy hills of Lathkill Dale (1 mile), before settling in for an al fresco afternoon treat in the leafy courtyard.

Built in 1769, this traditional property seamlessly blends original features with contemporary cottage styling. Enjoy polished wooden beams, a stone fireplace, rich earthy tones, and cosy soft furnishings. Towel off soggy paws in the entranceway before padding into the cosy lounge/diner. Tend to the crackling wood burner with the help of your four-pawed assistant then stretch out for a post-adventure snooze. Settle in for an evening feast around the wooden dining table, nestled in the light of the window. Stepping up, dish out dessert in the vibrant shaker-style kitchen. Rustle up a meaty morning treat for your hounds then perch at the breakfast bar with a freshly brewed coffee. Upstairs, discover a tranquil double complete with a wrought-iron bed frame and coordinated throw pillows. Outside, Fido can snuffle out every nook and cranny of the courtyard oasis before exploring the open countryside beyond.

Stroll along the light-dappled woodland trails surrounding Chatsworth House (9 miles) Discover the foodie favourite town of Ashbourne (14 miles) dotted with pup-friendly eateries. Comfortable, well equipped cottage in a lovely village. Just a cautionary note that there are steps out of living room to kitchen and steps up to bathroom from bedroom which could be problematic if you are less mobile.

Lovely cottage in small quiet village in a great location for local walks and for visiting nearby villages, dales etc. There is an attractive secluded garden for sitting out which catches morning and afternoon sun.

I think that it shoudl be made clear that people with mobility problems might have some difficulty with the stairs, particularly between the kitchen and the living room.
