Wincle (1 mile) is the nearest village, home to a friendly inn which welcomes families and dogs. The walker and dog-friendly local pub at Allgreave (2 miles) also offers a warm welcome, while Wincle Brewery (1 mile) is well worth a visit for ‘eccentric English ales’. The Roaches (said to have once been home to wild wallabies) and Ramshaw Rocks (both 7 miles) offer unusual sculpted rock scenery, all adding to the mythology of this spectacular yet tranquil area. Don’t forget to visit the attractive spa town of Buxton (10 miles), the highest market town in England.
