Treat yourself to a taste of seaside living and escape to this cosy bolthole with your four-legged friend. Set tails wagging immediately as tales of nearby woodland, estuaries, coast and countryside are heard. Harness up and explore before switching into relaxation mode and curling up in front of the TV and electric wood burner.

The open-plan lounge/dining area has a helping of countryside charm and is the perfect spot in which to kick back and unwind. Switch on the TV as your furry guest splays out and enjoys a good old stretch and a tummy tickle. Head into the smart kitchen and rustle up dinner for two and a tasty titbit for one. The kitchen is well-equipped for picnic prepping and three-course cooking alike, make yourself at home and experiment with exciting holiday recipes. Dine in style at the table or enjoy the warmth of summer outside and eat alfresco. The garden is shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage and is home to a seating area and BBQ. Let your canine chum run free in this enclosed space and watch as they chase their tail and sniff the fresh air. Upstairs, the bedroom is full of character with quirky sloping ceilings. Freshen up and rinse muddy paws in the bathroom with overhead shower.

For those who fancy dipping in the ocean, chasing sticks and feeling the sand underfoot, make the 6.5-mile journey to Pembury where a welcoming beach awaits. Closer to home, Kidwelly, otherwise known as the ‘Garden of Wales’ has an abundance of spots to explore including a castle which invites both two and four-legged guests.

The cottage is superb and beautifully decorated to a high standard. to give a home-from-home feeling. There is plenty to do in the local area with a comprehensive list of things to experience. A must-see is the 8-mile beach at Pembrey and a visit to Narbeth if you like independent shops.

We had a lovely few days staying in Kidwelly. Our aim was to get away from things - and this was easy. There are great walks easily accessible, and the castle is well worth a few hours of exploration.
