Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life on a romantic retreat for two humans and one doggo to this idyllic woodland shepherd’s hut. Surrounded by rolling countryside, awesome ambles and paw-friendly pubs and restaurants in the town of Crickhowell (2 miles), there’s plenty to set tails wagging on a stay here.

Split between two handcrafted huts, this quirky space is bursting with thoughtful touches and charm, from the stable door which allows you to look out over the vistas beyond to the thoughtfully furnished kitchen area. Hut number one is home to the pastel-hued bedroom, furnished with a delightful double bed and windows which act as picture frames for the natural beauty surrounding your room. Beside the door is a characterful wood burner to ensure you stay warm and cosy at all times of the year – and offering a perfect spot for a snooze for your hound at the end of a long day. Next door, the second hut has an impressive kitchen set up so that you can cook up a storm during your stay. In addition, you’ll find a surprisingly spacious shower room which will invigorate you each morning. You’ll love stepping outside each morning with your four-legged friend beside your side to sip a morning coffee in the private enclosed garden admiring the 30 acres of farmland which envelopes you.

Challenge yourself and let your dog lead the way to adventure on a hike to the summit of the Sugarloaf (6 miles) and you’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views and memories to last a lifetime. Travel 12 miles to Llangorse Lake and you’ll find a whimsical walking trail stretching for around 4 miles. Littered with fascinating flora and fauna as well as an array of sticks to fetch, there’s plenty to keep those on four legs entertained as well as those on two.

  • 1 double bed in the sleeping hut that’s named ‘Belle’
  • 1 shower room with a shower and a flushing WC
  • A gas stove and hob, sink, small fridge, storage space, cutlery and crockery
  • The bathroom and kitchen are both housed in the Chef & Shower Hut named ‘Blue’. There is a separate door into each end
  • Wood burner with logs included
  • Enjoy a digital detox – this retreat has no power sockets or Wi-Fi; guests are welcome to use power sockets from an outbuilding at the owner's farm
  • Hot water from the gas boiler, light from the solar panels, sheep's wool insulation keeping it warm all year
  • Set within hundreds of acres of natural farmland, the huts are totally private and sit within their own fenced copse
  • There is an outdoor table and bench as well as a lovely fire pit
  • Off-road parking
  • There is a walk to the huts from the car, so it is well worth trying to arrive during daylight hours to take in the miles of stunning countryside as you approach
  • Torches and lanterns are available for those who are making a later dash to the hills from the office
  • Pub 1 mile, shop 3 miles
  • The small field that the huts are in is not enclosed for pets. If you are bringing a dog, please be mindful of other animals on-site during your stay
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £150 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £20. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.
