In order to experience authentic North Devon, best known for its wild rugged landscapes and pretty villages with a real community feel, you need to visit Hartland; a small remote village just 14 miles from Bideford and home to some of the most spectacular coastline in the British Isles. This beautiful barn conversion is tucked away in a tranquil location on the Hartland Peninsula, just a short walk from the coast. Sleeping five along with up to two of your canine companions, this stunning former grain store offers rest, relaxation and rejuvenation in bucket-loads.
In the spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/lounge area there’s a double height ceiling studded with Velux roof lights and exposed wooden beams. A wood burner in the corner of the room adds a cosy glow during chillier evenings. A winding staircase leads you to a galleried landing area with additional seating and a wonderful view of the ground floor. There are three warm and welcoming bedrooms that offer a restful place to rest weary heads at the end of a long day of adventure. Outside you’ll find a huge enclosed garden; the perfect spot for Fido to burn off some energy before bed whilst you sit and sip a glass of something cold.
Keep your collar and lead close at hand as the South West Coast Path can be joined right from the front door – you probably won’t manage all 630 miles during your first visit though! Hartland Abbey and Gardens is just 3 miles from the property and dogs on a lead are welcomed to come and enjoy a stroll around the winding paths and woodlands. Or together you can take the circular walk down to the sea where you can see the newly restored gazebo that featured in the BBC adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.
