This stunning barn conversion, situated just 1 mile from historic village Yetminster, is perfect for couples or a small family – and that includes the dog, of course! Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms and with lots of space for the hound to lounge, it won’t be long before you’re up and about ready to explore the 800 acres of Dorset farmland that surrounds this property. You’re also in prime position to discover the Jurassic Coast, with West Bay only 23 miles away and parts of the beach accessible to dogs all year round.

The property, located down a quiet rural lane, is bright and airy with a fantastic mix of traditional and contemporary styling. The open-plan living area is full of light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that lead outside, while beautiful exposed beams across vaulted ceilings, and underfloor heating, still make it a cosy place to relax. The stunning en-suite bedrooms lend a boutique feel to your stay with soft, calming decor; throw open the window shutters in the morning and welcome in the day. Soak up the sun in the enclosed south-facing gravelled garden and sizzle up a BBQ on those days that are perfect for dining alfresco.

If you fancy a drink not too far from home, the local pub in Yetminster welcomes pups with open paws and serves dog biscuits to keep them happy. Further afield, the towns of Sherborne (7.5 miles) and Dorchester (16 miles) have plenty of pubs and restaurants for you to sample. Embark on a peaceful walk around the grounds of Montacute House (11.5 miles) and take a look at the wibbly wobbly English yew hedges, or sniff out clues along the Dorchester Mystery Treasure Trail that begins in the centre and runs for 1.5 miles.

  • 2 bedrooms both with super-king-size beds - 1 bedroom has zip-and-link beds which can be made into twin beds on request at time of booking

This was our second stay at the Cowshed, its a lovely place to stay to get away from everything its so peaceful in a beautiful countryside setting with stunning views. The only noise was the occasional tractor! Its very comfortable, nicely finished and well equipped. Its also a great location for exploring Dorset.

Beautiful location, walking from the front door across amazing dorset landscape; only a short drive to jurassic coast with choice of different beaches and friendly local market towns. There was something for everyone. Really quiet and peaceful week, with only the sound of the birds and the tractors!

Beautifully converted cowshed in lovely countryside. We were looking for something 'out in the wilds' of Dorset and found it. Cosy and very well equipped. One of the things we loved were the stars that could be seen at night - so clear and free of light pollution. Ample parking for our 2 large cars. Enormous beds, very comfortable. An ideal size converted barn for anyone wanting a relaxing rural holiday rental. As this is a relatively expensive property, we didn't expect to find dirty plates, dirty pan drawers and the freezer compartment needing a good clean. Perhaps if the check in was at 16:00 rather than 14:30 there would be more time for a thorough clean.
