The quaint cottage is tucked away in a quiet Yorkshire village on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. The property sleeps three guests and one furry friend (May-August only), making it a great base for a couple or small family. As expected, the dog-walking opportunities in the area are endless, with pretty country lanes leading away from the village and the tracks and trails of North Riding Forest Park within 3 miles.
The characterful stone cottage opens into a handy porch area that’s great for storing muddy boots and dog-walking gear. From here, move through to the cute kitchen/diner, which has a country-cottage vibe and all the equipment needed for a self-catering break, as well as a dining table for sharing mealtimes together. With hard floors, this room is also the ideal place to set up the dog bed. Moving through to the cheerful lounge, discover a light and bright space in which to unwind at the end of the day, with comfortable seating, a TV/DVD, and cosy wood burner for chilly winter nights. The two pretty bedrooms are upstairs, along with a refreshing shower room. Outside, sip a sundowner in the enclosed garden, where you’ll find furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining, as well as a lawn where the pup can play.
The vibrant market town of Pickering is 7 miles away. With its olde-worlde charm, historic buildings, and quaint shops, it’s the perfect place to while away a lazy afternoon. You and the hound can also board the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway here, and embark on a magical journey through the breathtaking Yorkshire landscape. Heading to the coast, you’ll soon reach the seaside town of Scarborough (12 miles), with its independent shops and eateries and paw-friendly beach.
