Enjoy the best of beautiful countryside and glorious beaches in an appealing dog-friendly period cottage on the Devon and Cornwall border. Sleeping four guests, it’s an ideal choice for families, couples or friends sharing who want their pets to have a great holiday too. This homely property is next to the farmhouse on a working sheep farm and has lovely country walks right on the doorstep.
After a lovely day out, relax on comfortable seating in the lounge and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this cosy room which has original beams and a deep-set cottage window. Keen cooks can set to work in the spacious, country-style kitchen/diner which has everything you could need. Upstairs are two attractively furnished bedrooms: a double with far-reaching countryside views, and a bunk bedroom, together with a family bathroom. Outside is a private garden area, where you can drink in the vista across open fields while your pups explore interesting new smells.
You are welcome to tour the farm next door by arrangement and meet the resident animals which include cows, sheep, pigs and goats. Fishing is available too on the owners’ stretch of the nearby River Tamar, depending on the weather and necessary permit or licence. Stock up on local produce at the weekly farmers’ market in the historic town of Holsworthy (5 miles), and visit the fascinating local museum, housed in a 17th-century manor house. Bude (8 miles) on the North Cornish coast has a wealth of beautiful beaches where you and your pets can revel in the sand and sea together. Dogs are welcome all year round too at Summerleaze and there’s also a peaceful 2-mile tarmac footpath running alongside the Bude Canal – ideal for an afternoon stroll.
