Property code: OLDFO

In a tranquil location on a working dairy farm, this converted forge is surrounded by 90 acres of farmland just waiting to be explored. Set out on foot with four-legged friends to join the magnificent South West Coast Path and discover secluded coves, river valleys and picturesque waterfalls along the way. Back at the property, the warming open fire is ideal for drying off wet coats at the end of a beach walk while the enclosed garden offers a safe haven for dogs to roam and relax while you enjoy al fresco meals.

This single-storey property is perfect for couples or small families looking for a cosy bolthole by the sea with their beloved canine friends. Prepare delicious meals in the traditional kitchen before dining at the table in the cosy lounge where French doors open onto the garden, perfect for those hazy summer days. When night falls, curl up beside the open fire for an evening in front of the TV while your canine companions snooze happily nearby.

During your stay, you are invited to take a look around the farm although four-legged friends must stay on a lead at all times. Just 1 mile from the property lies the stunning coastline of the Hartland Peninsula, a dedicated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Come rain or shine, this area is rich in wonderful walking routes, which are best topped off with a hearty meal at one of the local dog-friendly pubs. Local attractions include the sandy beach, golf course and watersports facilities at Bude and the picturesque harbour at Clovelly.

A lovely cottage in quiet countryside. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. The garden was lovely and secure and of good size, which the dogs enjoyed. The only downside was that the cottage is near to a cow barn and on somedays you could smell the cows, and consequently there were a few flies. However this cottage Read morewas very reasonably priced, compared to others and it stated it was on a working farm. We had a fabulous time and plan to return at a later date. Hide

Average cottage but clean , comfortable and warm and dry. Tranquil area , but is a working farm so lots of smells and can be flies situated nearby. The price definitely means you get what you pay for.

We really enjoyed our stay . Lovely comfortable cottage with secure garden for our dogs . Not far from some great places to visit. We especially enjoyed a cream tea at Docton mill which was only a short walk from the cottage.

A nice light cottage with friendly helpful owners. Location very good for access to the coastal path but approached by single track roads so brush up on reversing skills! Lovely and peaceful - slept very well.

Lovely peaceful location, however be aware that it is approximately 3.5 miles on single track country lanes. Very secure dog friendly garden, our miniature Schnauzer loved spending time out there and it was safe to let her wander around.

This was our 2nd stay at the Old Forge. A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Lots of walks near-by. Our dogs (Jack Russell and Patterdale Terrier) loved the large enclosed garden to run around in. We'll definitely be booking this cottage again.

I went to the cottage with my friend and her dog. The garden was secure which was a real plus so the dog could wander in and out. The area was really peaceful. Nice cottage with everything needed for a quiet week away with our dogs. There is a path just across the road that leads down to the coastal walk along the cliff tops, but the local lanes are very narrow and not really safe to walk along. Be aware that it is about 4 miles to the nearest shop, so forward planning is essential, and that the local roaRead moreds are very narrow with few useable passing places. Luckily there is very little traffic. Hide
