Perfectly situated between the town of Fort William, known as the gateway to Ben Nevis, and the city of Inverness, the largest city in the Highlands, this cottage couldn’t be in a more perfect location from which to explore the mountains and lochs this area is famous for. This character cottage with its mullioned windows and slate roof provides a picture-perfect place for two couples and one canine to enjoy a traditional Scottish adventure, where the great outdoors provides the perfect playground to walk, cycle, climb or fish your way through several enjoyable days.
The inside of this cottage is just as quaint and beautiful as the exterior. The cosy lounge/dining area features pretty floral wallpaper and a woodburner with an additional sitting room offering further space to sprawl out and relax after a tiring day outdoors. There is a well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances and two cosy bedrooms with brightly-coloured sloping walls and ceilings creating charming sleeping spaces. The garden to the rear of the property is fully enclosed by fencing, trees and greenery and enjoys regular visits from the local wildlife.
Lying along the 60-mile long Caledonian Canal, the bustling village of Fort Augustus is just a 300-metre walk from the cottage and is a paradise for dog walkers, with direct access to many beautiful routes such as The Great Glen Way, rewarding trekkers with dramatic views for their efforts. You’ll also find a fantastic selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, many of which welcome well-behaved pups. The Clansman Centre in the village is a 19th-century schoolhouse that offers visitors the chance to step back in time to see how Highlanders lived in the 17th century.
