This Highland hideaway is charmingly traditional and features unparalleled country and coastal views due to its secluded and peaceful location. Perfect for a small family wanting a break from their busy schedules, here you will be free to enjoy the simple pleasures in life: watching the birds, listening to the sound of the ocean and spending time with up to two of your best four-legged friends. Guests to this pretty whitewashed cottage can expect to feel rested and rejuvenated after their short break here.

A former 19th-century school house, this property is packed with period features and has been sympathetically modernised to ensure its character remains. The bright white walls and ceiling in the lounge give the room a feeling of space and light, with a woodburner and dark-wood fire surround taking centre stage. A shelf running the length of the room groans under the weight of hard-backed books, positioned above squishy sofas that invite you to curl up on them and read. The two cosy bedrooms feature well-positioned comfortable beds that allow you to take in the beautiful views whilst enjoying a lazy breakfast.

The village of Lochinver is just under 10 miles away and was named by The Guardian as Scotland’s new foodie hotspot, with world-renowned chef Albert Roux having recently taken over the kitchens at Inver Lodge restaurant there. The sandy beach of Culkein can be found within a mile of the property and would be a wonderful spot for a game of fetch with Fido or to simply sit and daydream with a flask of coffee to keep your hands warm on chilly days. The falls of Kirkaig are a 17-mile drive and here you can walk up a beautiful wooden glen to catch sight of this most impressive waterfall.

This cottage is gorgeous, it's old fashioned in decor and furnishings but it is in keeping with the cottage. A modern look wouldn't suit it. It is very remote & the roads are single track & quite winding but you get used to them. The cottage is very well equipped and very clean. It has a lovely big shower and the water is always hot.

This was the cleanest cottage we ever been in over 20 years. Bathroom was special with heated flooring and big shower. Cottage had everything although a bigger pot would have been helpful to cook some food to last a couple of days. We appreciated the photographs from their friend Pete Boardman. A lovely well maintained cottage on a working croft. Almost silent the vast majority of the time and some good walks from the cottage. The enclosed garden has a standard wire fence so you may want to consider a tether if your dog is nosey as the sheep can be very close at times. Ours didn't know what to make of them. So many gorgeous beaches near bRead morey! The road from Lochinver is stunning especially if you get a clear run. Lochinver larder pies! Yum. The butchers is good too. Hide
