Following the River Derwent, you can continue to Matlock Bath, with a vibrant seaside feel, arcades and lots of places to eat. Head up by cable cars and take a trip to the Heights of Abraham. For a taste of industrial heritage, visit Cromford (4.5 miles), home to the historic Cromford Mill and the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Learn about the pioneering work of Sir Richard Arkwright and explore the picturesque village nestled along the banks of the river. Further out, but not far away, Haddon Hall with its magnificent gardens sits just 5 miles away and Chatsworth House is 7 miles, with its magnificent architecture, world-renowned art collections, and sprawling gardens.
