Leave stress behind and enjoy the peaceful location of this quirky, historic property on the island of Anglesey. With glorious views and a cosy wood burner, it’s remote yet within easy reach of beaches, activities and the buzzing city of Bangor, making it a perfect base for a family getaway.
Set adjacent to the owner’s 17th-century farmhouse, and with excellent walks from its doorstep, the cottage is centred around an unusual lounge/diner with a soaring ceiling and corner fireplace with a wood burner. The kitchen is full of character, and well designed for whipping up tasty meals. For lazy hours with a book or gazing at the rural views, head for the sunroom, where you’ll find rattan seating and a small table for playing cards or a board game. Two of the bedrooms are a king-size and a twin, both with built-in wardrobes and views of the garden, while the third is a single bed in a traditional Welsh ‘crog loft’ over the living area, reached via a steep ladder and with low, sloping ceilings. The family shower room has underfloor heating and a shower with a seat for those less mobile. Outside, the enclosed garden has a huge lawn that’s perfect for zoomies (dogs and children!), with a croquet set and a football goal, while the adults can enjoy a glass of something tasty on the patio while firing up the BBQ.
The property is less than a mile from the village of Brynsiencyn, where you’ll find a small range of shops and places to eat, and 3 miles away is Foel Farm Park, a family-friendly attraction with tractor rides, farm walks, lots of animals and a chocolate shop. Visit numerous beaches within 20 miles, or spend a day in the small but lively city of Bangor, 8.5 miles.
