This cottage, located on the edge of a picturesque village 6 miles from the market town of Grassington, will be an oasis of calm for one dog and five two-footed companions. Within a few metres of the beck that runs into the River Swale, and bookended countless fells and becks that litter this area of Upper Wharfedale, this couldn’t be a more tranquil spot for walkers, fell runners, cyclists or drivers for whom the journey, not the destination, matters most. Beautifully appointed to evoke a home-from-home feel, the cottage offers good-sized living areas and amenities, including a wood burner and an electronic piano.
After passing through the entrance hall, an area made for storing kit, the quaint lounge is an inviting area featuring exposed ceiling beams, comfortable sofas and a wood burner ideal for snuggling around while streaming your favourite series. The spacious kitchen/diner is a place to pop corks and create indulgent dishes, with an electric piano on-hand for the musically minded. Expect piles of clothes to end up in the adjacent utility room. A family bathroom is joined by three bright and welcoming bedrooms on the first floor: a king-size bedroom and a single bedroom, both with a triple wardrobe, along with a twin bedroom. An attractive bench and flowerbeds sit at the front of the cottage, while a dining terrace, perfect for al fresco suppers, and a small, raised garden area, sit to the rear.
Wonderful long walks across the Dales landscape start from the moment you leave the cottage, with each footpath or trail offering outstanding views of the rolling hills found between Kettlewell and the likes of Buckden (4 miles) and Coniston (6 miles). For something a little more challenging, try Great Whernside (2 miles). The vibrant market towns of Grassington (7 miles) and Skipton and Harrogate (both 14 miles) offer a host of dog-friendly pubs and eateries.
