Stroll around the grounds of a Derbyshire country mansion with your waggy-tailed friend when you book a stay at this impressive, stone retreat. Sleeping four guests, the handsome two-bedroom conversion is set in shared gardens and woodland near Chinley, just 2 miles from Chapel-en-le-Frith. It is also the same distance from the scenic Peak District National Park, with its myriad of great dog-walking routes.
Watch your happy hound bound into the attractive holiday home, with its dog-friendly, flagstone floors and bright, airy ambience. At the centre of the retreat is the appealing lounge/diner, where you can fire up the wood burner, then watch TV or dine in its cosy glow. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare tasty homecooked meals with the fresh produce you have bought and there are doors that can be opened up on fine days so you and your pal can step out into the fresh air together. There is also a WC downstairs. Make your way up to the first floor to discover the gorgeous, family bathroom, which features a freestanding bath, then take more steps up to reach the double bedroom and the twin. The double bedroom has a Juliet balcony. Dine outside in the pretty courtyard garden, with your contented canine close by during the warmer months, taking him for a walk around the leafy grounds afterwards. There is ample parking here.
Head to the Bugsworth Basin, 1.5 miles away, to stretch furry legs with long walks alongside the canal. More energetic pups might like to attempt the steep hikes and climbs around Jacob’s Ladder on the Pennine Way, 10 miles away. Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, and with magnificent views and even a waterfall, can also be reached from this part of the national park.
