This converted coach house is set in the grounds of a Jacobean-style manor, near the mountains of Snowdonia and the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. Combining traditional features and stylish decoration, it’s a great choice for a family getaway.
This sweet cottage overlooks the former stable yard of the historic Wern Manor estate. Its bright kitchen/diner contrasts contemporary cupboards and integrated appliances with an antique dining table and chairs, and there’s a utility room that would be a great place to store your furry friend’s treats. The snug lounge has a cute sofa and chairs, plus a TV and DVD. There’s a family bathroom on this level, while the three bedrooms – a double, twin and single – are all on the first floor, along with a shower room that can either be used as an en-suite to the double bedroom or shared by all three rooms. A private rear patio is equipped with a table and chairs for al fresco dining, and you are welcome to explore the manor’s 15 acres of lawn and woodland, with a summer house, a stream and a pond. Here you can picnic, play croquet or just sit quietly in the fresh air and, if you wish, you can even arrange with the owners to tour the manor house itself.
From the cottage it’s 1.5 miles to the welcoming, Welsh-speaking village of Tremadog, where there are places to eat and a small shop, or 2 miles to Porthmadog, a busy harbour town with shops, cafes and restaurants, that’s also a hub for three narrow-gauge railways. Criccieth and its beaches is 2.5 miles, and you may wish to drive further onto the Llyn Peninsula and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or head into the Snowdonia National Park and challenge yourself with some exciting hikes.
