Return from long walks on dog-friendly beaches to warm tired paws beside a wood burner at this large cottage in Cumbria. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom retreat is situated at Allithwaite, 2.5 miles from Cartmel, and has an enclosed garden for your pup to play in. From here, you can also venture 3 miles into the Lake District National Park to find footpaths and trails to set tails wagging.

Open the door to let your paw-some pal pad inside and take him through to either the lounge or the snug. Both of these welcoming rooms feature a wood burner to stoke up on autumn and winter days. Gather in the lounge with your cheerful chum at your feet to watch the Smart TV or play lively holiday games. Head through to the kitchen/diner, where two steps separate the different sections of the room. Here, you can feed your hungry hound and whip up tasty meals for everyone else in your group. There is also a family shower room downstairs, plus a handy utility room with an additional table and an AGA. At the end of each exciting day away, settle your contented canine for the night and make your way up to the first floor where your bedrooms are situated. Here, you will find two doubles and two king-size beds, together with a family bathroom. Play fetch with your furry friend in the garden to the front of the house and cook on the BBQ to the rear, before dining outside in the fresh air.

Stroll or drive 2 miles into Grange-over-Sands to spend time on the beach, where dogs are welcome all year round. Venture 9.5 miles to the tip of Windermere to find scenic walks beside the lake or to bound aboard a dog-friendly cruise and take in the views from the water.

The cottage was great, well equipped and very comfortable. On arrival, a hamper was left for us, which was very much appreciated. It was a short drive to the southern lakes and we had lovely walk into nearby Cartmel. The local pub was short walk, very friendly and food great

Lovely clean cottage, very spacious and freshly decorated, very comfortable beds and a distant sea view from front bedrooms. Well situated for local sights and attractions. Can walk the short distance to pheasant Inn with care as no pavement.
