Set on a working farm, this beautiful barn offers a rural escape in the stunning Peak District hills, surrounded by public footpaths and cycle trails, and close to Bakewell.
In a quiet location with walks from the front door and stunning scenery in every direction, the barn makes a relaxing country retreat for friends or family, with their two canine chums. There’s lots of space for everyone and lovely extra touches like a summerhouse in the garden and two bathrooms to go with the two bedrooms. Plus, there are two outside areas for Fido and Rover to choose from, perfect for games of fetch and snoozing in the sunshine.
Being a converted barn, the accommodation has a double-height vaulted ceiling in the lounge, which makes it feel even bigger and brighter. It’s been decorated to complement its former working life and has some fantastic original features, like the brick fireplace where dogs and humans will compete to get close to the wood burner. You can take your coffee or glass of wine and head out to one of the two seating spots in the courtyard or the patio, just away from the cottage, to join your pups as they make the most of their relaxing break.
Footpaths, bridleways, and cycle routes criss-cross this area in the heart of the Peak District. Over Haddon, just down the lane, is a pretty village overlooking Lathkill Dale. It’s about a 2-mile walk from the village into Bakewell, which takes you across open grassland into Bakewell along the river. There’s another lovely walk from Over Haddon down to Lathkill Dale and back, with a climb back to the village (a 5.5-mile walk in all). Matlock and Matlock Bath are 10 miles away, and worth visiting to take the cable car to the Heights of Abraham. Having fish and chips and/or ice cream with your pack by your side is pretty much compulsory too, while you’re there.
