This huge, lovingly restored farmhouse offers large families or groups of friends the chance to explore Somerset and Devon with a luxurious property of epic proportions to use as a base. Tucked away into rolling countryside, with the town of Taunton virtually on its doorstep and the beautiful Exmoor National Park, Quantock Hills and Blackdown Hills nearby, you and your four-legged friend will have the most amazing adventures together here. And on the days when you don’t want to venture too far from home, you have a pool table and skittle alley to keep you busy.
The open-plan kitchen/dining room really is a sight to behold, with an enormous table easily able to accommodate fourteen hungry guests and an Aga (operational October to March inclusive) taking centre stage between the cabinetry and glossy worktops. Exposed brickwork and wooden beams give this room a relaxed rustic-modern feel and meals here will be happy, social affairs. The utility room is a handy space for storing muddy boots or rubbing down wet dogs! The six beautiful bedrooms are accessed via two separate staircases, with the four larger rooms belonging to one wing and the final two rooms belonging to the second wing and accessed via a set of steep cottage-style stairs.
The Orchard Shopping Centre in Taunton is home to a fantastic selection of high street stores and coffee shops and can be found within 2.5 miles of the property. Hestercombe House and Gardens is a short 6-mile drive away and home to 50 acres of lakes, temples, water-features and woodland walks – a wonderful place to stretch Fido’s legs. Trull Waterfall, a lesser-known hidden gem and haven for dog walkers is just 1 mile from the house and definitely worth a visit. The unique landscape of Exmoor National Park is a pleasant 32-mile drive away.
